Privacy notice
- We collect only what we need to run the beta and the game.
- We never sell your information, show you ads, or add you to marketing lists.
- The plugin never sends the text of your prompts or Claude's answers. It only tells the game when Claude starts and stops.
- Email us any time to see your data or have it deleted.
Who we are
Reel Time is an independent game made by Megan Bess. It is not made or endorsed by Anthropic. For anything about your data, email meganbess+reeltime@mail.grokbot.com.
When you sign up for the beta
The form on playreeltime.com collects:
- the email address on your Claude account (required, so we can send your invite to the account that can open the game)
- your name, your country, which Claude apps you use, and a note, if you choose to fill them in
- the country your connection comes from, worked out by our host from your IP address (the IP address itself isn't kept with your sign-up)
- the time you signed up
Your sign-up is emailed to our beta inbox through our email provider, Resend. We use it only to pick beta testers, send invites, and contact you about the beta. We keep sign-ups until the beta ends plus 90 days, then delete them, unless you ask us to delete yours sooner.
When you play the game
Reel Time runs as an artifact on claude.ai. Its data is stored in that artifact's database, which Anthropic hosts as part of Claude.
- Your private save. Your progress, inventory, catches, settings and Claude status are stored in a private area that only your Claude account can read. As the developer, we can't read it either.
- What other players see. Your in-game name, avatar, level, where you are in the world, messages you send in chat, mail you send, friend and party requests, and catches that make the record boards are shared with other players in the beta.
- Reports. If you report a player or a bug, the report (your in-game name, the player you reported, and what you write) is saved where only we and our moderators can read it, and emailed to us so we can act on it. Bug reports also include game details such as the game version, browser, screen size and recent errors, unless you untick "Include details". Suspensions and bans for breaking the lake rules are kept on a moderation list.
- Real weather (off unless you turn it on). If you switch on the real-weather setting, the game asks your browser for your location. It rounds it to about 10 km and sends it to Open-Meteo to look up your local weather. Your location isn't stored.
- Fonts. The game and this site load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when it serves them.
The Reel Time plugin for Claude Code
The plugin lets the game know when Claude is working, so a golden fish can bite when your answer is ready. When you send a prompt and when Claude finishes, it writes a small status note to your private save in the game. The note says "working" or "done", when it happened, how long the turn took, and how many steps Claude took. It never sends the text of your prompts, Claude's answers, your files, or anything else from your session. It can also read how many fish you caught while you waited, to tell you afterwards.
Our providers
We rely on Vercel (hosts this site and keeps standard request logs, such as IP address and browser, for security), Resend (delivers sign-up emails), Anthropic (hosts the game as a Claude artifact), Open-Meteo (weather, only if you turn it on) and Google Fonts. If we ever release a web version of the game, its saves will be stored with Supabase, and we'll update this notice first.
Who can use the beta
Reel Time needs a Claude account, so it's for adults who meet Anthropic's age requirements. It isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect children's information.
Your choices
- Email meganbess+reeltime@mail.grokbot.com from the address you signed up with to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have your sign-up and game data deleted. We'll do it within 30 days.
- You can uninstall the plugin at any time with
/plugin uninstall reel-time. You can also turn off "Signal the game" in its settings. - If you're in the EU or UK, you also have the right to object to our use of your data, to ask us to limit it, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We use your sign-up because you asked to join the beta, and your game data to run the game you're playing.
Changes
If this notice changes, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects data you've already given us, we'll email beta testers about it.
